LOS ANGELES-"Desperate Housewives"starRicardo Chavirawas arrested by cops on suspicion of drunken driving less than a mile from theUniversal Studiosset of his hit show.
Chavira, who playsEva Longoria's misbehaving ex-con hubby on the long-runningABCseries, allegedly cut off a police vehicle and failed a field sobriety test around 2:20 a.m. yesterday.
The star - who also was arrested for DUI in October 2001 - refused both breath and blood tests at a nearby jail and was in custody in lieu of $25,000 bail eight hours later, sources said.
"He was cooperative, he just refused to do further testing,"anLAPDpolice source told the Daily News.
"There's no way to say for sure how badly intoxicated he was."
According to cops, Chavira made a dangerous left turn in front of an oncoming police vehicle at the intersection of Cahuenga Blvd. and Riverside Dr. inToluca Lake,Calif.
"He failed to yield the right of way, then accelerated to 60 mph in a 35 mph zone and threw aMcDonald'swrapper out of his window,"the source said.
"He probably didn't even see the cop car."
The married father of two, the son of aTexasjudge, told police he was driving home from a friend's house and stopped for food.
