BookCourt'sAdam Wilson, who sold his debut novel,"Flatscreen,"to Harper Perennial last week, is the latest of the borough's independent booksellers to cut a deal for his work.

Emma Straub, a colleague at theCobble Hillstore, will release her collection,"Other People We Married,"next month.Jami Attenberg, ofGreenpoint's Word, has her third book out in paperback this month and just completed a fourth,"The Middlesteins."(The patron saint of the bookseller-cum-writer is"bard ofBoerum Hill"Jonathan Lethem, one-time employee of eight shops, includingAvery, Brazen Head and Moe's.)

Handling other people's books all day can be frustrating for an aspiring author, but Wilson claims it's good to work somewhere literature is"thriving."After all, the indie store's selection spares him the agony of selling, say,Snooki's novel.
