In his first interview since splitting fromEva Longoria,Tony Parkerrevealed basketball is what has helped him cope with the demise of his marriage.
"The most important thing is to stay strong mentally, even if these are very difficult times,"he told the French newspaperLe Parisien."I've taken refuge in basketball because that's what I've done best since my youth."
Parker, a 28-year-old point guard for theSan Antonio Spurs, and Longoria, 35, each filed petitions to end their three-year marriage in November.
While he's still trying to"make sense of things,"Parker admitted that it helps to"keep things in perspective."
"I am, first of all, a basketball player. I've done this for so very long,"he said."For me, it's been essential to be successful on the court."
And even when he's off the court, he has found comfort his teammates and family.
"It feels good to have support from your team and your city, but the most important thing is my family,"he said."In moments like these, your whole family becomes closer to you."
It may help that Parker has stayed away from the media coverage of his divorce up until this point.
"The best solution is not to read anything and I didn't read anything,"Parker shared."That's not hard."
