Smithers. Strawberry and Clark have been very vocal in praising Smithers for her help in their successful battle against alcoholism. The ultimately hopeful film is the story of a Swedish woman growing up in a home riddled with alcoholism and abuse in the 1970s.

A source tells us the actress placed a worried phone call fromHawaiito her husband inL.A.on Friday after he was injured in a car accident inBeverly Hills. Though he was taken to the hospital, his rep says he's"fine."

TheFilm Society of Lincoln Centeropened the 16th annual"Rendez Vous with French Cinema"with a screening of Deneuve's new movie,"Potiche"(at the Paris Theatre, bien sur).Director Francois Ozonexplained that in French,"Potiche"means either an ornamental bowl or a trophy wife - and that Deneuve was"not a potiche at all."In a black fur coat and leopard-print heels, the screen icon looked regal on the red carpet as she dodged most press, with her publicist telling reporters that the after party would be a better time to talk.
