Looks like it's finally Splitsville for former Mets general manager Steve Phillips and his wife.
The former baseball bigwig, who lost his job as an analyst at ESPN after his affair with a frumpy"Star Wars"-loving production assistant 24 years his junior became public, is headed to divorce court - a second time.
His wife, Marni, initially filed for a separation in 2009, but decided to give the 20-year marriage another chance when the former Met chief agreed to go to rehab for sex addiction, Phillips told the"Today"show Friday.
After a year of trying to reconcile, it appears the damage from the affair cannot be undone, Phillips, 47, told the show.
She filed for divorce Monday.
"I'm sad about it, because I don't want to get divorced,"Phillips said."I want my wife. I love being married to her, but yet I certainly understand the steps she's taken. It was going to take a miracle, but I was hoping for a miracle to find a way to save this."
